Design Process

This is our opportunity to get to know you and learn about what you are looking for in a new home. We want this to be a collaborative effort that will combine your ideas and our experience to create the home you desire. For our first meeting bring all the information you have gathered when doing research for your project (See Getting Started for suggestions on how to prepare for the design process). From the information you provide, we will create a list of parameters to use as our guide for creating the conceptual design.

Site visits are used to determine if any special consideration is needed regarding the orientation and footprint of your new home. We will look at the size, shape, slope, vegetation and other features to determine how to best place your home on the lot.

The next step in the process is the conceptual plan. We use the information you have provided us and create floor plans and elevations for your review.  This portion of the design process may have several steps as we revise and refine the plans until they meet with your approval.

After getting approval of the conceptual design we will proceed with the construction drawings. This set of drawings will include all the information needed for bidding, permits and construction.  On the more complex designs we will consult with a structural engineer to provide us with the engineering needed for a safe well designed structure.
